Free flights with the WizzAir/Booking.com partnership

This genuinely works. Building up credits is easy!

My last flight only cost £10.50 (to Marrakesh) and I’ve flown countess times for similar prices simply by redeeming credits… How do they do it?

Well, like many of us, I either book accommodation “direct” with providers, or via broker organisations like Booking.com for convenience. The latter often provide better deals given the volume discounts and membership loyalty programs. Although they appear to be cornering the market a little, I quite like Booking.com, and from what I hear, so do the people renting rooms via them. Now, I have been with “Booking.com” long enough to be at “Genius Level 3” which provides a whole host of additional price reductions and upgrades.

However, (and here’s the travel hack) I have recently found that by selecting my accommodation with Booking.com but “THROUGH” a link provided on the WizzAir.com App, it has provided me with some great cash equivalent “credits”, up to 10%.  

Of course, to qualify for this benefit, you need to be a Wizz Discount club member, but that only costs €59.99 per year. This outlay is easily recouped (and some), more on this at the bottom…

Once I have got the membership, I book all of my accommodation VIA the “hotel” link location on their App is circled below. 

Once I have completed my stay, the points are converted into credits and automatically added to my WizzAir wallet a few weeks later.

1 credit = €1

So far I’ve managed to rack up £100s in credits – and these are for bookings I was going to make anyway!!! 

For example, I was awarded with €36 worth of points for bookings accommodation this way on just two trips I made in January ’24, and to put this into perspective, the flights to these destination cost £12.99 each way!

So you can see how easily I manage to fly for FREE, at least 4 times this year to European or North African destinations! 

Sorry for mixing up £ and €, but WizzAir trade in € – you’ll get the gist. 

Of course there are rules associated with this deal, including a short travel window in which you have to spend these free credits, and NEVER forget to add your WizzAir membership number at the time of booking – the rules say you can add your membership details after, but I’ve found this not to be the case! 

Once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty straight forward and operates much like a ‘cash back’ credit card. 

I have carefully compared the prices “direct” (via Booking.com), and via the WizzAir link on their App, and have found them to be identical.  There appears to be no hidden mark up and include all the discounts that I usually get with Genius level 3.

That’s crazy! But it appears to be working….  

I’m not sure how long WizzAir will continue to do this, but for now I am filling my boots! 

Oh and for some balance, a bit about WizzAir 

I like them, BUT my eldest Daughter doesn’t on account of them failing to provide compensation when her hold bag went missing a few years ago. It took over a year to settle and ended up being half the value she was entitled (she had to enlist external help to put pressure on the airline to cough up).

On the other hand, I have flown with WizzAir more than a dozen times without problem. But it must be said, I usually travel with CABIN bags only.

I find them a bit like Ryanair, stick to the rules and you’re fine, and don’t expect world class customer service if and when things go wrong.

However, almost all of my flights with Wizz have departed and arrived bang on time and indeed the only time our flight was cancelled, WizzAir put us up in a swanky hotel and paid for our evening meal in the hotel restaurant – so I have no complaints. 

WizzAir Discount Club standard membership

To receive the 10% credits this way, you need to join their STANDARD discount club membership which right now is €59.99. This may sound a lot, BUT if flying with a companion, you’ll get MORE than your money back on two return trips alone. WizzAir offer €10 per person per flight for the club member +1 (for flights over €19.99).

Trip 1 = four flights = €40 reduction

Fly with a companion five a years, that’s an immediate saving of €200, even BEFORE the credits you can receive via their Booking.com partnership deal.

It’s a NO BRAINER!
