Lost in Paris (Six by Nico)

Well, what a coincidence…
We love this Fitzrovia venue, so Emma and I decided to buy a voucher for “Lost in Paris” experience, and use it on some random night in February.

We had also gifted my daughter and Alex an experience for the same at Christmas.
So we booked a table, popped into London by train, stopped for a couple of bars en route, and opened the door ready to announce our arrival. A table for two. A nice romantic fine-dining experience awaited.
Well… that’s what we thought.

Who was already seated, on the same night and at exactly the same time? Sarah and Alex.
Wow. What a coincidence. This is the second time I’ve bumped into Sarah entirely by chance, the first being in Vienna, when we quite literally brushed past each other at the Spanish Riding School, where she was visiting with Kim, her mum – my first wife…
We chatted to the manager, who kindly rearranged things so we could have a table for four, and even ensured our first course arrived promptly so we could catch up properly.
Naturally, we all opted for the “cocktail” pairing menu , drinks arriving neatly at the start (or end) of each course. Well, why not? When in Paris…

Any notions of separate romantic evenings disappeared as we chatted about life, the universe and everything in between.
The meal was, as ever, delicious, though I must admit I found myself more absorbed in conversation with Sarah and Alex. And the cocktails? Excellent. Not something we’d normally choose, but absolutely the right decision for this menu.

It turned into a delightful evening. Emma and I trotted off to catch our train home, while Sarah and Alex walked a few hundred yards to their accommodation, booked for work commitments.
