London Steakhouse Co

A lovely evening out with Emma, spending a voucher we’d bought for ourselves last year.
When we first saw the offer, it looked far too good to be true, a five-course menu with a cocktail starter for just £22 each, rather than the usual £55.
Yes, you read that right…

Of course, there’s always a catch, but at that price, I was willing to find out.
To be fair, the £22 menu would indeed have cost £22 if we’d stuck religiously to the set options. And as you can see from the menu below, it wasn’t bad at all.

But here’s where things start to add up (as they always do). We fancied a bottle of wine, and I wasn’t drawn to the fish cake or the braised boeuf bourguignon, both included in the deal, so I upgraded to the 14oz ribeye, which came with a supplement. Add in a few sides (also not included), and before we knew it, our bargain meal had crept up to around £50 extra per person.
Still, it’s worth saying that had we stuck to water and the fixed menu, it really would’ve been a remarkable deal, especially with that cocktail thrown in at the start.
As for the food itself? Perfectly decent, served in a smart London setting. You can see how their business model works, tempting you in with the deal, then encouraging a few tasty add-ons that quickly boost the bill (for instance, the cheapest bottle of wine was about £44).
All told, our evening came to around £70 each, which, for five courses, a cocktail, and a shared bottle of wine, didn’t feel unreasonable for London.
Would I go again? Yes, definitely, but only if I found another deal like this one…
We rounded off the night with drinks at the Duck and Waffle, perched high up in the Heron Tower (now Salesforce Tower), overlooking the City of London. The views are spectacular, well worth a visit if you fancy a cocktail or mocktail to finish the evening.
