Hi explorer

Hope life is treating you well.

We have just returned from a great last minute road trip to the Highlands and West Coast of Scotland, a crazy idea we had whilst camping in southern England. We exploited the heatwave and great weather that was hitting the area.

It was Emma’s first time with me to this magical corner of the British Isles, and conditions couldn’t not have been better. Well worth doing!

The new roof tent has given us a little more freedom to take off and explore with a lot less planning. It is not quite the luxury of a camper van, but it works really well. We’ve used it enough times for me to recommend it.

They are a lot cheaper than a camper-van, but offer many of the same benefits. However, if you are thinking of going down this route, do some research on the dynamic roof loading of your car before you splash out. The whole topic is a minefield. Oh and wait until the end of the season (say Oct/Nov) before you buy one, we got one for 25% less than you can purchase them at the moment. The supplier was obviously trying to shift excess stock…

Our next road trip will be south west England (Dorset to Cornwall), followed by multiple forays into Europe. Many of these trips will be exploiting the cheap WizzAir routes, and the tricks we’ve found to keep costs down. Indeed, I just booked a flight to Turkey for £10.50…

We have Australia in our sights too, perhaps at the end of the year, or early next. Can’t wait.

Hope you find the links useful, together with hints and tips.

Love from Emma and Lawrence

xx

A solo trip to explore the region ahead of booking a trip with Emma later in the year.

Pembrokeshire - Wales

A week away in Wales - no rain, only sun. A trip to a HPB facility with my parents.

Unearthed - music festival

A new one for us, and a last minute trip to join friends.

Bearded Theory Festival

This was only 8 weeks ago, at the very start of summer, but feels a lot longer. We love this place and will almost certainly be returning next year.
